Projects
Projects and initiatives supported by ICEP
Hullabaloo22 was the first major collaborative project for ICEP. Between March – August 2022 it provided a banner to bring together and celebrate activity in Ipswich that supported children and young people to express themselves, develop skills and have a voice through creative and cultural participation.
The aim was to create a unifying banner to bring together and amplify the range of activity led by education, arts and community settings and freelance practitioners across the town.
What happened at Hullabaloo22?
- Over 30 education settings - from early years settings to further education colleges – took part in Tell Your Story projects led by the Ipswich Opportunity Area in partnership with ICEP. Settings collaborated with artists and organisations to deliver projects supporting young people’s oracy and emotional literacy. Be inspired by case studies and find out more on the Eastern Opportunity Area’s Sharing Big Ideas website.
- Thanks to Suffolk County Council’s Covid Continuity Fund for Culture, ICEP enabled a number of community partners to commission a local artist to work with the young people they support, including Suffolk Family Carers, South Street Kids, YMCA, Project21 and Aspire Black Suffolk.
- Arts and heritage organisations in the network gave a platform to children, young people and families to explore and express their creativity under a shared Hullabaloo22 banner. This included Skate Park Celebration & Murals led by Art Eat, FFS Fest led by Future Female Society, DanceEast Youth Takeover Day, Joy at the Jobcentre led by Ipswich Museums and DWP and young people-led performances by Group A with Britten Pears Arts.
